In 1771, the consort of King Ferdinand IV, Queen Maria Carolina of Hapsburg, during a court ball at the Palace of Caserta had her guests served a black-colored drink popular in Vienna and little in Naples where, precisely because of its black color, it was believed to bring evil: the "devil's drink." With the event held in the Palace of Caserta, the first coffee in the Kingdom of Naples was born . From that moment on it was the Neapolitans who excelled in the preparation of coffee thanks to the use of a special roasting of the beans that gave the drink a rich and intense taste.
